P + R = Marriage License

I would like to take a minute to sing the praises of automated marriage licenses appointments at San Francisco City Hall. P and I had wanted to get ours in Yuba City for some sentimental and financial reasons ($50 bones, yo) but then it got ridiculous in terms of scheduling. So late last night, I went online, made an appointment and paid my $96.00. P and I took an early lunch, met in the Records room at City Hall and within 13 minutes we had our marriage license! Now we have to get married within 90 days...OK, can do.

Weirdly and surprisingly easy (if you're not gay) to get married in the state of California. Valid ID, both over 18 and some personal parental information plus our fee and we were set. It helps that we are both over planners in some regards and had completely already downloaded and filled out all the forms we needed.

So, basically it goes like this, take the bus to City Hall, walk up the grand steps to Records room, wait for 30 seconds in line and fill out the forms. Emerge with the certified piece of paper that effectively will change your legal status FOREVER. Cuz you can never go back to being "single" if it doesn't work out you are divorced or widowed. So, big stuff but deceptively simple to obtain.
