This is Rude.

So, I have been giving myself a little blogging vacay, trying to get registered for some classes with our fave friend TroveCove (formerly known as GRE BM), in some way hoping that using my brain on the regular jump starts an academic renaissance in my life. In other exciting school news, Sissy has started classes and that has been great and on the casa front we are researching new appliances for updating our SF kitchen. Hence, the vacay from blogging until like Stats told me, I have developed something else relevant or new to say, "like political or more commentary" or something.

But something so scary has jolted me back into Bloglandia, where I must share this with you. You know that I just love me some Martha and that usually I defer to her in all things decor, but this might just stop me forever.

Happy New Year! 2010, You have been a long time comin'.

I have eagerly awaited the beginning of a new year! 2009 was HARD, y'all! Although we got married (or maybe because of getting married), many parts of our lives were stressful and I especially am so happy that I can now focus on something besides the wedding. Like maybe, my marriage? I am working on a list of resolutions, any suggestions?

We are baaaack! SF, I missed you.

After stopping in Miami for the beginning of Art Basel and then continuing on to Medellin, Colombia for family time we are BEAT! So many things to say, but mostly the best part of any vacation is seeing new things, sharing new experiences and then being infinitely grateful to come home to our corner of the world.




Coming soon, a list of things that I am grateful for. You would think that would have happened around Thanksgiving but it really take a visit to a third world country to get your Gratitude Meter in gear. How much do you love toilet paper??!

How wonderful to have our theme song on this slideshow be performed by an artists whose name is Heart of Pirate!! Our wedding was on September 19, 2009, aka, International Talk Like A Pirate Day and our after party was held in the "Pirate Suite", Percy's room at the Sacramento Sheraton Grand, kindly decorated by the BM Crew. Understandably, P and I have a certain fondness for Pirates. Ahoy!

Hubster and I have a Dentist Appointment this Saturday.

On the plus side of our walk on the wild side (getting married and making this whole thing Legal and all) I was able to add my HUSBAND (yeah, I can hardly believe it and it feels very funny to write that)to my superior dental and vision plan. He has been postponing having his wisdom teeth removed and I think now I will have to pressure him into embarking onto that little adventure. When he does have that procedure I hope he feels as good as this kid.

Addition to Golden List

I have started loving my Vera Wang China set. I registered at Macy's first for a Kate Spade set and then changed my mind. Through the entire process I did not think that we would get anything from the collection because although beautiful they are a little pricey!

Of course we were so lucky and received almost all of our china on our Macy's wedding registry. We still have a few things from the set that I would like to add to our china collection.

Today I have been married for ONE Month!

I'm not sure that I feel "married" yet, but I am very very happy!

Unfair?

To struggle with freaking out at my vendors? So, I had very sweet experiences with most of my vendors. I felt like they cared about my wedding, worked hard to deliver the services that we hired them for, and for the most part became friends. So....fast forward to not quite a month after the wedding and now I am thinking that being friends with a vendor might be a major mistake!

My videographer (a friend through my job) was super reasonable, nice, and responsive. And I still do not have a video, or even a sneak peek! And he is by Facebook friend and I can see on his status that today he is working on a manuscript...NOT MY VIDEO.

The photographer who shot my BM's in our vintage inspired photo shoot is a new friend, someone who I felt I really hit it off with and is full of great ideas, an entrepreneur and pioneer. Also, someone who has texted me, emailed, and is a FB friend. She eloped to San Francisco City Hall last week and is now a newly wed. How rude is it to write to her and say, Congrats on your wedding, I want my photos NOW?

And honestly, if I even get into Jerry Yoon and how badly I would like just ONE PICTURE of my wedding, I might have a conniption. So, I will just ask, "Can you please, please, post ONE photo, or at least send me an email letting me know when they might possibly happen?" That's not too crazy right?

Golden Birthday!

Your golden birthday is when you turn your age on the date of your birthday. For example I am going to be turning 29 on the 29th of December this year. I also think it is fortuitous that it will be in 2009! This isn't a really popular tradition on the West coast, I think it's more common in the South but I just love it. So for all these reasons as well as it is also my darling GRE BM's golden birthday later this month I have decided we must have a small golden party to celebrate us.

This will take place sometime in mid November and I will let you know the details as we go along. For now, I will be compiling a list for Dear Hubby of acceptable gifts for this occasion. They should conform to the gold them, natch!

First up: Rings! Because now my right hand feels naked it would like a ring for my birthday. How about anything from By Boe?

Too much of a good thing?

P only had 3 things he required at our wedding. 1) No tuxedo for him. He wanted to wear the traditional Filipino Barong Tagalog 2) A "short, fat" cake and 3) an Open Bar.

That's right my dear darling husband required 7 hours of an open bar at our wedding reception or he could not possibly get married. Which I thought was a great idea but our parents were completely horrified by. P claims he never has fun at weddings that are sans alcohol or that you have to pay for your own drinks. To him it was a matter of being a good host. To his folks it was an accident waiting to happen. I trusted our friends to know their limits and everything turned out just fine although I know that my in-laws thought all the guests were going to end up like this guy!!



Thanks Bio BM for this ridiculous video. According to her it reminded her of "a guy from my building the other night. I was doing my laundry when he came into the garage walking in an S, so wasted, ran into the wall, fell over, tried to make his way to the door and fell going up a ramp onto a bike. It was bad news." She also claimed it was "funny but so not funny".

Meet Delarosa!

Only this post is not really about me!Clearly this feature by Zagat explaining that "this yet-to-be-named Marina pizzeria and bar specializing in Roman-style 14-inch ultra thin pies, accompanied by more than 40 beers and specialty cocktails. Slated to open in November (2175 Chestnut St.)" is about a new restaurant that is opening in the city and basically really got me excited because it shares my new last name!! Which brings me to another point.

Everyone keeps asking me if I have changed my last name yet. And the answer is no. Not because I am rethinking this whole change-your-last-name thing, but because the first step in that whole process is to get your official marriage license from the County Recorders office, then you send it to the Social Security Office for a new card and then it's a domino effect from there, you change your legal documents, driver's license, passport, etc.

So, I am waiting and waiting for this certificate and this terrible thought in my mind is, "what if the wedding coordinator (from Hell) from St. Francis just FORGOT to send it in after the priest and the witnesses signed?!???!!" To be honest, she really was very very disorganized. This thought kept me up last night.

Was this wedding coordinator (provided and mandated by the church we were married in) that bad? Well dear friend, interesting question. Let me share some pictorial evidence.



Please note that WC (wedding coordinator) is interrupting our family pictures to ask me a question. Why would on the day of my wedding when I am about 5 minutes away from walking down the aisle would she choose to ask me and not my maid or matron of honor or my mother a question? Beats me!!



This woman is no joke, asking me if I KNOW WHERE THE READINGS ARE FOR THE CEREMONY.
I am not kidding. Isn't that what we were paying HER to take care of? And isn't that something she could have asked me um, the day before the wedding at the 2 hour rehearsal?!? Seriously, P and I planned all the wedding reading and staging and everything about 2 months before and mailed it to them and this woman lost it all.



So, I told her, "I have no idea, guess we will have to wing it." And then slapped my happy face back on and finished up my pictures. Then, we lived happily ever after.
