What to Wear to Your Own Wedding

My dress dreams are finally starting to take shape. Figuring out what to actually wear to my wedding has been one of the lowest things on my priority totem pole when planning for 09-19-09. It's not that I don't care, I just am so much more a shoe girl, willing to pay lots of money for a pair of shoes that I will wear again and can just have around to look at as a piece of art. The poofy dress just seems crazy and outdated (virginal white anyone? and the host of feminist discussion that we encounter after that) but is the biggest signifier that, "Yeah, I'm gettin married!".

I must wear something, so even now in my mind the dress is the foundation for the outfit. I am feeling inspired by bolero jackets and shrugs. The dress will probably be something pretty basic (white, long, maybe poofy)covered with something I can design and have executed by a talented artist, further feeding my Etsy habit. Don't you just love the ruffles and high collars?

Inspiration showed up in this weeks' Wedding Fashion Week Shows:
